A BAND of low pressure in northern Queensland pulled in offshore moisture and triggered moderate to heavy rain around the North Tropical Coast and the north-west.
Slow moving troughs and tropical lows brought showers, rain and thunderstorms across northern Australia.
Weekly rainfall totals of 50 to 200 mm were recorded across a wide band of northern Australia, with totals exceeding 200 mm along the Queensland central east coast and inland.
There is ongoing minor to moderate flooding, with isolated major flooding, in northern, western, and central Queensland.
Two cold fronts and associated troughs crossed the south-east, drawing in tropical moisture and producing rain, showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Weekly rainfall totals of 10 to 50 mm, and up to 100 mm in alpine regions, were recorded across much of South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania, and southern and eastern parts of New South Wales.
The highest weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) was 553.0 mm at Mount Jukes in Queensland to 22 February. The station also had the highest daily total of 265.0 mm in the 24 hours to 9 am on 18 February.
