A NEW, mobile-friendly version of the electronic National Vendor Declaration system is now available, providing what Meat & Livestock Australia says is an efficient and convenient platform to complete livestock consignments.
Developed by Integrity Systems Company (ISC), the updated eNVD has a user-centric design that is described as easy to navigate, removes duplication and can be completed on a mobile device or desktop computer by Livestock Production Assurance-accredited producers, lotfeeders and value chain stakeholders.
The updated eNVD is part of a suite of changes to the NVD being rolled out in 2020, collectively designed to provide an easier, more efficient and cost-effective way for producers and supply chain stakeholders to interact with Australia’s red meat integrity system.
The other changes include the release of updated versions of NVDs for all species in July and the decommissioning of the eDEC system at the end of the year. The NVD communicates the food safety status of every animal every time it moves along the value chain – between properties, to saleyards or to processors.
ISC chief executive Jane Weatherley said the suite of changes are in response to extensive consultation with industry stakeholders and their recommendations to ISC.
“The updated eNVD provides a fast and intuitive system to complete livestock consignments and meet LPA program requirements,” Dr Weatherley said.
“It has been subjected to rigorous testing ahead of its release to the red meat industry and ISC will continue to update the system to ensure it delivers the best user experience to industry.
“Due to field validation, the new eNVD strengthens traceability and market access and ensures producers are providing information that meets the latest market requirements.
“Adopting the new eNVD is simpler and more accurate for the whole supply chain. All consignments are in the one place and instantly available online, enabling stakeholders to log in and view eNVDs, including receivers of a consignment or animal.”

Once a eNVD is completed by a stock producer sending cattle off his PIC, on his mobile phone, why is it not able to be sent to the carriers mobile, copy of which on his mobile would be his required documentation both if requested en route to destination, and the carrier would then send his filled out copy to the receiver’s mobile, of said stock at destination?
Not much help creating the eNVD on phone if one still has to find printing facilities for a hard copy, before stock can leave.
Well after writing this I see Cameron Backus has already made the point!!
I am looking forward to when a paperless, off line, mobile app version is available that can pass the eNVD via bluthooth between livestock owner, transporter, and receiver, then be uploaded when any of the mobile devices have a connection. As far as I can see, in its current form, it can only be filled out if you have an internet connection and a printer. If you want industry to take it up it needs to be easier than the paper version, be able to be filled out offline at the yards once final stock numbers on the trucks are known, and uploaded later.
