RESPECTED beef industry genetics scientist Dr Brian Burns has passed away in Rockhampton, after an extended illness. He was 63.

Brian Burns

Dr Burns built a reputation as a committed, knowledgeable and highly-effective beef extension officer based in Richmond and Swans Lagoon, North Queensland, and Brigalow Research Station near Theodore before completing his PhD in genetics and moving into senior research roles.

He spent his later career in Rockhampton working on fertility and other important Bos Indicus research with Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation.

He followed in his father Max’s footsteps as a committed and long-serving Queensland state government agriculture senior employee.
