Queenslanders are counting down to Beef 2024 in Rockhampton, with less than a year to go until the biggest beef event in the southern hemisphere.

The Palaszczuk Government is supporting Beef Australia with $2.25 million of investment in Beef 2024.

Beef 2021 generated $94 million for the Queensland economy, supporting almost 800 jobs, and was recognised with Australia’s Best Major Festival and Event Award at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

Beef 2024 will run from 5-11 May 2024.

“There is no better place to hold Beef 2024 than Rockhampton – the beef capital of Queensland, Australia, and the world,” premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

“Beef 2021 set an attendance record with more than 115,000 coming through the gates.

“With international travel restrictions due to COVID no longer a factor, I look forward to seeing that record broken once again.

“Queensland’s beef industry is worth more than $10 billion, supporting more than 40,000 jobs across our regions and supply chains, from farm, to factory, to export.

“I am proud to back Beef Australia and this iconic event with a $2.25 million investment that will support the event and the Rockhampton community.”

Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities Mark Furner said Rocky’s Beef expo is always one of the biggest events on the Queensland calendar.

“I’d like to thank the Beef Australia team, including Chair and #eatqld Champion Bryce Camm and CEO Simon Irwin, for their extraordinary efforts in organising these events.

Beef Australia CEO Simon Irwin said, at its core, Beef Australia is a beef industry event that offers attendees from across the supply chain the opportunity to explore the latest products, technologies, and innovations in the industry.

“More than that though, the event program has evolved to include a range of fantastic social events, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, and exhibitions, appealing to a broader audience outside of the industry.

“We would really like to see more locals enjoying the event in 2024, so we’re excited to announce the introduction of M’Eat Street, a food, drink and entertainment precinct lined with food trucks, BBQs, bars and a free nightly entertainment program, perfect for the locals to enjoy a sundowner at after work or wind down the day with the family.”
