Yarding 2500 Change 460

The Wagga market is being influenced by weak domestic processor competition in a bigger yarding of 2500.

Quality was fair with more stock in genuine store condition.

The cattle sale in general did fluctuate with only Angus cattle and some European yearlings attracting strong competition.

In the trade market yearling steers were hardest hit falling 27c to average 412c/kg.

Heifers sold to a mixed bag of prices with grain assisted recording a top price of 416c/kg however, prices dipped 13c to average 395c/kg.

There was little change in rates for feeder steers with prices 3-5c easier making from 360-435c/kg.

Feeder heifers sold to steady demand with prices unchanged making from 360-410c/kg. The seasonal shortage of heavy cattle helped improve prices 3-5c/kg The bulk of the C3 and C4 steers sold at 360-410c/kg.

Heavy heifers were well supplied, and Coles supermarket keenly contested the younger portion. Heavy heifers over 600kg jumped 33c making from 301-395c/kg. In the cow market bidding intensified due in part to very strong restocker demand.

Heavy well finished cows gained 10c making from 295-347c/kg. The bulk of the leaner types were sent back to the paddock selling at 277-360c/kg.g
