There was a notable uptick in numbers across various categories reflecting the strong results the previous sale. The quality of livestock was generally secondary. There was a significant  scarcity of well-finished cattle, particularly in the trade and heavy export classes. Feedlots once again played a dominant role in the market, absorbing a substantial volume of stock. Restockers showed a strong interest in lighter weight steers and heifers. All the usual export and domestic buyers participated in the sales, yet their buying levels varied, leading to fluctuations in competition.

There was keen interest among some processors for vealers, with prices ranging from 430-494c/kg. However, the demand for trade cattle in the 400-500 kg range was weak, primarily due to limited availability and the strong demand from feedlots. Heifers suitable for trade were also in short supply, fetching prices between 424-464c representing a decline of 22c/kg. The competition for feeder steers remained buoyant, resulting in a slight increase in prices for medium-weight steers. The bulk of light and medium-weight feeder steers sold within the range of 440-535c/kg. In contrast, the prices for feeder heifers saw erratic bidding throughout the sale. Lighter weight feeder heifers experienced a decline of 20c, selling between 425-479c, while medium weights eased by 3c, with prices ranging from 424-494c/kg. Light weight steers, weighing between 200-280kg were actively sought after by restockers, although their prices averaged $1,242/head, which was not as high as the previous week.

Heavy steers and bullocks were notably scarce in each agents run, with the majority selling between 410-465c/kg. The cow sale attracted a large number of processors and restockers with strong demand, from restockers. Heavy cows remained unchanged to a few cents dearer averaging 406c, while leaner cows faced weaker demand from processors, with those under 520kg selling between 318-390c/kg.  Store type cows saw restockers underpinning the market, with better store cows selling from 355 to 420c/kg.
