Roma store sale 30 June 2020: Kindee draft highlight of strong market

Brad Neven, Principal Watkins and Company, Roma, with a magnificent line of Kindee Past Co weaner steers that topped at 476c/kg to average 450c for the entire draft of 870 steers.

CATTLE were mostly drawn from the local supply area for the last sale of the financial year and included the annual sale of a large run of quality local weaners.

The yarding was comprised of young cattle, and the overall quality of the yarding was good. A larger buying panel was present with an increased southern buyer presence along with the regular buying panel and all were operating. Light weight yearling steers improved by 31c to 36c, while heavy weight yearling steers improved by 26c to 31c/kg.

A large sample of light weight yearling heifers to restockers improved by 27c/kg. Heavy weight cows improved by 2c to 11c/kg. Calves sold to a top of 412.2c to average 368c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 476.2c to average 453c/kg. A good sample of light weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers reached a top of 456.2c to average 440c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed sold to 448.2c to average 426c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed made to a top of 443.2c to average 420c/kg.

A large sample of light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers that included quality local lines made to 450.2c to average 416c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 418.2c to average 376c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers made to 390.2c to average 352c/kg.

A good sample medium weight grown steers sold to 343.2c to average 340c/kg. The best of the grown heifers reached a top of 342.2c to average 328c/kg.

Medium weight 3 score cows sold to a top of 297.2c to average 284c, while medium weight 4 score cows made to a top of 301.2c to average 300c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows reached a top of 299.2c to average 284c/kg. The the heavy weight 4 score cows made to 315.2c to average 310c/kg.

The best of the heavy weight bulls made to 339.2c to average 323c/kg.

Des & Wendy Jones, Evergreen, Injune sold Charolais cross steers to 468c/kg, reaching a top of $1,352 to average $1,226.

The Charolais cross heifers sold to 425c/kg, reaching a top of $1,210 to average $1,055.
