NVLX Wodonga 18 April 2023: Trade steers jump 70c

Selling action at Wodonga.

Yarding 1200 Change + 600

Numbers lifted due to the pending Anzac holiday Tuesday.

All of the usual export and domestic buyers were at the sale and most buyers were keen to secure well finished stock across all weight categories.

The reduced supply of vealers sold to mixed trends, with a fair percentage lighter weight. The bulk of the vealers made from 330 to 448c/kg.

Bidding intensified for grain assisted yearlings with buyers in constant bidding duels. Trade steers improved 73c, while the heifer portion gained 41c selling from 350c to 450c/kg.

In the export sale domestic processors were forced upped the ante for grain assisted steers.

Heavy bullocks making from 340c to 378c/kg. Heavy steers gained 55c to average 409c/kg.

The bigger offering of cows met strong demand for the heaviest types.

The better finished heavy cows were 10c to 14c dearer selling from 300c to 318c/kg.

Heavy bulls sold at 280c to 318c/kg.
