Dalby sale 23 Sep 2020: Heavy cows back over 300c

Yarding 3266 Change -1075

The supply of stock reduced by 1,075 head to 3,266 at Dalby.

Buyer attendance was good with all the major export processors and feeder operators in attendance and active, plus the return of interstate and local restockers.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 20c/kg better and more in places. Yearling steers to feed sold tovery solid demand.

A very good quality line up of light weight yearling heifers sold for future breeders averaged 30c/kg dearer.

Yearling heifers to feed remained very close to the previous weeks improved prices.

A fair selection of medium and heavy grown steers and bullocks received very strong support from processors as well as feeder operators.

All classes of cows improved in price with average prices 11c to 15c/kg better.

A large selection of yearling steers under 200kg made to 540.2c to average 503c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg averaged 453c and made to 488c/kg. Well bred yearling steers under 330kg returned to the paddock at an average of 493c, with sales to 503.2c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 403c to 417c with sales to 444c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 387c and made to 397.2c/kg.

Yearling heifers under 200kg sold to restockers at an average of 495c with sales to 526.2c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg also made to 526c to average 466c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 389c to 393c, with sales to 414c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 367c and made to 380c/kg.

Medium weight 4 tooth steers to feed made to 390c to average 342c/kg. Heavy weight grown steers to export processors averaged 354c, and the bullock portion made to 364c to average 341c/kg.

Medium weight 3 score cows averaged 275c, and the best of the medium weights sold to 295c/kg. Good heavy weight cows averaged 291c with sales to 303c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls were noticeably dearer to average 315c with sales to 358.2c/kg.
