Yarding 4275 Change 768

All the regular export processors were in attendance and operating, along with the usual feeder operators and restockers.

There was a wide variation in the quality of the young cattle, however the standard cows was generally good. Buyers operated selectively on the young light weight cattle with only well bred lines in demand. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed followed a similar trend, to experience only quality related price changes. Good quality lines of yearling heifers experienced strong support, while secondary classes experienced a cheaper market. A fair sample of heavy grown steers and bullocks received strong competition from export processors.

A relatively large supply of cows sold to a dearer market with improvements of 6c to 9c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 480.2c, with a large number averaging 430c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to the occasional 448.2c to average 405c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 391c and made to 416c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 398c to average 381c, with the occasional B muscle class to the trade making to 420.2c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background average 396c and made to 428c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 400c to average 375c/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feed averaged 349c and made to 370c/kg. Heavy grown steers to export processors made to 369.2c, and the bullock portion made to 371.2c to average 346c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 263c and made to 273c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 291c, and a large sample of good heavy cows averaged 312c and made to 319c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 326c/kg.
