Beef Central, 27/06/2019

Video market report from Ray White Eastern Rural’s Wyatt Wrigley

Yarding 5939 Change 509

Numbers increased by 509 head to 5939, and included in the line up were 219 head from NSW, and 710 from far Western Queensland.

Cows continued to dominate the grown cattle section along with a fair sample of bullocks.

Buyer representation was generally good and all were operating.

Competition on good quality light weight cattle was generally good, however drought affected poor quality lines were hard to sell.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed experienced strong support for the quality penned, however heavy weights to feed improved in price. Light weight yearling heifers were well supplied, and sold to strong competition from restockers and backgrounders. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed and the trade sold to a dearer trend.

The younger end of the heavy grown steers and bullocks were in demand from export processors.

The large supply of cows improved in price, with plain condition classes 10c dearer, and good heavy cows gained 15c/kg.

Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 252.2c to average 229c, and heifer calves made to 232.2c with most around 181c/kg.
