WHEN a selection of Australia’s top chefs, including the likes of Ben O’Donoghue, Alastair McLeod and Massimo Mele, start cooking at Beef Australia 2015, the results will be like nothing visitors have ever tasted before.
Beef Australia chairman Blair Angus says a group of nine internationally renowned chefs are coming to the national beef industry exposition in Rockhampton in May to wow audiences with new ways to enjoy Australian beef.
“Beef Australia 2015 is placing an extra emphasis on beef as a healthy and delicious product, so who better to demonstrate the quality and flavour of Australian beef than some of our finest cooking talent from here and overseas,” he said.
“They will be doing daily cooking demonstrations, which are a great chance for the public to learn a new dish or how to use a different cut of beef. The team will also be serving daily at a new premium pop-up restaurant in the grounds of the exposition.”
Renowned Executive Chef at Noosa’s Boathouse Restaurant, Shane Bailey, has been appointed to oversee the food program and to encourage prominent chefs to showcase Australian beef.
“Our program features the likes of Matt Golinski from Queensland, as well as a number of chefs secured with the assistance of Meat and Livestock Australia including Sam Burke; Tarek Ibrahim from the Middle East; Vindex Tengker from Indonesia; and Hong Kong’s Alvin Leung,” Mr Angus said.
Mr Angus said Beef Australia would be filming and photographing the chefs while they are at the event to provide materials for broadcast in their home markets and media programs, helping to spread the word to new customers around the world about Australian beef and Central Queensland as a destination.
“Beef Australia 2015 isn’t only for cattle producers; it is a showcase for our entire industry from paddock to plate,” he said. “Demonstrating our end product is a great way to engage the general public in discussion about our industry and its role in the national economy.”
