Vale Joe Dore

Jon Condon, 20/01/2016

Respected far North Queensland beef producer and canegrower, Joe Dore passed away in Townsville overnight after a short illness. He was 95.

Fron his base at Murray Upper near Tully, Mr Dore took considerable interest in industry and broader politics, and is perhaps best remembered as one of the founders, alongside Graham McCamley, of the Cattlemens Union of Australia in 1970.

In 1997, the Cattlemens Union and United Graziers merged to form AgForce Queensland.

He was regarded as a progressive, forward-thinking and fair-minded beef and sugarcane producer, always prepared to try new production technologies and techniques.

Mr Dore is survived by his wife Veronica (Ron),  daughters Elizabeth (Lyons) and Maree (Atkinson), and sons Michael and Gerard and their families.

A service will be held at Tully Catholic Church on Saturday, January 23, from 10am.
