Yarding numbers remained at a high level. The store cattle penned showed more signs of dry conditions compared to previous sales. Demand from NSW restocker buyers declined slightly and the plainer store cattle were cheaper than last week.

Light weight yearling steers were 14c cheaper, while good medium and heavy weight yearling steers continued to attracted solid feedlot buyer competition. Light and medium weight heifers were generally cheaper in price. Steer calves sold to 344c and averaged 331c, down 6c, while heifer calves topped at 284c and averaged 250c, down 39c/kg. Light weight yearling steers topped at 348c and averaged between 315c and 342c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 343c and averaged 322c, down 4c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 336c and averaged 321c, down 5c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock hit 314c, while most sold to feedlot, processors and restockers for between 220c and 298c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 316c and averaged 270c, down 30c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to processors topped at 305c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows reached 248c and averaged 235c, while heavy weight 4 score cows topped at 258c/kg. Santa-cross cows with 1 to 2 month old calves sold to $1,160 and most averaged $804/unit.

A total of 9818 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale. Weaners under 220kg topped at 348c/kg and averaged 307c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 343c/kg and averaged 310c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 343c/kg and averaged 305c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 335c/kg and averaged 313c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 336c/kg and averaging 308c/kg.

Elrose Family Trust, Elrose Station, Boulia, sold Charolais-cross steers to 348c/kg for 188kg to return $654/head. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 302c for 188kg to return $570.

Ian Brumpton Holdings, Oaklands, Roma, sold Angus steers to 343c for 337kg to return $1157.

D & G East, Lindon Station, Roma, sold Charolais steers to 342c for 269kg to return $920.

Wondolin Pastoral Co, Wondolin, Wallumbilla, sold Angus-cross steers to 338c for 346kg to return $1173. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 314c for 335kg to return $1052.

BM Packer, Merino Downs, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 336c for 433kg to return $1456.

Barry & Doreen Cooke, Turana, Meandarra, sold Simmental-cross steers to 334c for 385kg to return $1289. The Simmental-cross heifers sold to 316c for 378kg to return $1196.

R & E Handley, Eddington, Mungallala, sold Cross bred steers to 332c for 394kg to return $1309.

Noel Mansfield, Saltcote, Mitchell, sold Santa steers to 330c for 470kg to return $1551. The Santa heifers sold to 305c for 404kg to return $1232.

T & S Pegler, Alni, Winton, sold Hereford-cross steers to 330c for 357kg to return $1179. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 300c for 197kg to return $592.

B Southern, Breena Plains, St George, sold Santa-cross steers to 330c for 206kg to return $682.

Ambo Grazing Co, Ambo Station, Longreach, sold Santa-cross steers to 328c for 294kg to return $967.

West Farming, Loomeah, Roma, sold Hereford steers to 328c for 441kg to return $1450.

P & H Sanderson, Mundalya, Yuleba, sold Santa-cross steers to 328c for 373kg to return $1224.

T & J Sorensen, Westerdale, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 327c for 270kg to return $883.

Institutional Investments, Roma Downs, Roma, sold Brangus steers to 326c for 230kg to return $750.

Farmleigh Pastoral Company, Farmleigh, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster steers to 321c for 216kg to return $695.

A & C Adams, Allo-omber, Barcaldine, sold Brahman-cross steers to 318c for 230kg to return $731.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 316c/kg and averaged 263c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 314c/kg and averaged 249c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 294c/kg and averaged 262c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 302c/kg and averaged 260c/kg.

W & E Martyn, Canowindra, Roma, sold Simmental-cross heifers to 298c for 324kg to return $967.

Guthrie Pastoral Group, Baroona, Injune, sold Angus-cross heifers to 280c for 259kg to return $727.

Cows over 500kg sold to 258c/kg and averaged 230c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 257c/kg and averaged 202c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 216c/kg and averaged 153c/kg.

Santa-cross cows with 1 to 2-month-old calves sold to $1,160 and most averaged $804/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 328c/kg and average 243c/kg.
