Dalby sale 8 Feb 2017: Market shows easing tend

Dalby’s weekly sale yesterday saw 5260 head yarded, similar numbers to last week.

Surprisingly, 98 percent of the yarding was in forward to prime condition, unexpected considering the dry, hot weather seen recently.

Markets held reasonably firm at 10c cheaper in places. The best of the cows made 253c, with good restocker cows making late 20s to 30s. Well-aged cows with good frame and sappy Angus x Hereford calves at foot sold for $1880, while Santa x Charolais cows & calves went from $1500 to $1750.

There wasn’t an abundance of good bullocks yarded, but the good quality examples present made from 305-318c for milk and two-tooths. Good heavy feeder steers were in shorter supply, but made anywhere from 333-345c.

Among highlights, Charolais x bulls 562kg (100 day GF) from Kumbia sold to processors for 298.2c to average $1678, while Charolais x steers 321kg from the same area sold to restockers for 368.2c, averaging $1184.

Santa steers 255kg from Kumbia sold to restockers for 386.2c, average $984, while Santa bulls 865kg to processors sold for 253.2c averaging $2190.

Charolais x steers 495kg from Goondiwindi sold to processors for 285.2c, averaging $1407, while Moonie-bred Limousin x cows 605kg sold to processors for 245.2c av $1484.

Simmental x steers 546kg from Dirranbandi sold to processors for 311.2c, returning $1699, while Taroom Shorthorn x cows 626kg sold      to processors for 251.2c, av  $1572.

Angus feeder steers 425kg from Cooranga North sold for 345.2c, to average $1469, while Millmerran Angus heifers 248kg sold to processors for 335.2c av $833.

Among heifer lines, Kingaroy Charolais x feeder heifers 370kg sold for 322.2c av $1192; Droughtmaster heifers 249kg sold to processors for 334.2c; and Simmental feeder heifers 370kg from Millmerran sold for 344.2c.

Angus x feeder steers 400kg  from Jandowae made 335.2c; Angus x steers 282kg from Millmerran sold to restockers for 392.2c; and Droughtmaster feeder steers 421kg from Moonie sold for 340.2c.
