BROAD areas of low pressure triggered rain and thunderstorms across large areas of the country in the past week.

Rainfall totals in excess of 100mm were recorded in parts of the Central Highlands in Queensland, including the highest weekly total of 157 mm at Barcaldine in central Queensland.

Rainfall totals between 50mm and 100mm were recorded in the Darwin–Daly district in the Top End, in parts of northwest, central and southeastern Queensland, in areas of central and southern New South Wales, and a small area of northeastern Victoria.

Rainfall totals between 10mm and 50mm were recorded in the southern, central and northern parts of Western Australia, much of the central and western Northern Territory, large areas of northwest, central and southern Queensland, and in most of New South Wales except the far west. Similar totals were also recorded in the eastern half of Victoria and the region around the Otways, an area of inland southwestern South Australia, and pockets of northern Tasmania.

Remaining parts of Western Australia and South Australia, northeast and southern parts of the Northern Territory, southwest and far northern Queensland, western New South Wales and western Victoria recorded little or no rainfall this week.
