Weekly rainfall update + rainfall outlook 5 May 2025

Bureau of Meteorology 06/05/2025

SCATTERED showers with isolated storms and locally heavy rainfall driven by coastal low-pressure troughs and onshore flow impacted coastal regions of New South Wales, Queensland and eastern Victoria.

Cold fronts and associated low-pressure troughs brought scattered showers across southern Western Australia, southern regions of South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

Weekly rainfall totals of 25 to 50 mm were recorded across most of eastern coastal regions and pockets in the south-west region of Western Australia and south-eastern Victoria.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms impacted northern Australia.

Weekly rainfall totals of 50 to 200 mm were recorded across Arnhem land in the Northern Territory and the south-east Cape York Peninsula coast.

Much of Australia did not record any rain during the week as high-pressure systems brought settled weather conditions.

The highest weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) was 190.0 mm at Coconut Island in Queensland, which included the highest daily total (at a Bureau gauge) of 135.8 mm in the 24 hours to 9 am on 3 May.
