Weekly rainfall update + rainfall outlook 16 July 2024

AN INLAND trough moved across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria triggering rainfall in western and central New South Wales and western Queensland, with rainfall totals of 25-50 mm in the 24 hours to 9 am on 16 July.

A low pressure system in Bass Strait brought rain across parts of Victoria and Tasmania, and in the 24 hours to 9 am on the 10th, 15-50 mm was recorded across western Tasmania and central and south-eastern Victoria.

A low pressure system off the east coast of Tasmania on the 14th brought widespread rain to the state with 25-50 mm across southern areas in the 24 hours to 9 am on 15 July.

Weekly totals of 25-50 mm were recorded across Tasmania, the south-west coast of Western Australia, small areas of the south-east coast of South Australia, a large area of central and north-eastern Victoria, and isolated pockets of inland New South Wales and central Queensland.

Weekly totals greater than 50 mm were recorded across southern, eastern and central Tasmania, and central Victoria.

The highest weekly total was 140.4 mm at Mount Baw Baw (Victoria), which also recorded the highest daily total of 89.2 mm in the 24 hours to 9 am on 10 July.
