Early in the week, a cold front in the Great Australian Bight with a low-pressure trough extending through the interior, moved eastward triggering storms and extensive rainfall across parts of the interior and eastern half of the country.
During the week, humid conditions associated with a series of low-pressure troughs triggered storms, some severe, and widespread rainfall over the interior, parts of eastern Australia, and south-western parts of the country.
Weekly rainfall totals greater than 25 mm were recorded across northern Australia and large parts of inland and eastern Australia.
Weekly rainfall totals of 50 to 100 mm were recorded across parts of northern Australia, southern Queensland, western Tasmania, north-eastern Victoria and inland areas of New South Wales.
Weekly rainfall totals greater than 100 mm were recorded in the Top End of the Northern Territory, an isolated area of the Kimberley district in Western Australia and an area of northern Queensland, with falls greater than 200 mm in the Peninsula, North Tropical Coast and Tablelands districts in Queensland.
The highest weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) was 415.0 mm at Corsis Alert in Queensland.
The highest daily total (at a Bureau gauge) was 158.0 mm at Highbury Station in Queensland in the 24 hours to 9am on 4 December.
