Weekly rainfall update + rain outlook 29 June 2022

Bureau of Meteorology, 29/06/2022

A SERIES of cold fronts and low pressure troughs brought rainfall to southern Australia during the week

Strong westerly flow brought the highest weekly totals over western Tasmania

The highest weekly total was 153.8 mm at Mount Read in western Tasmania, while weekly totals in excess of 100 mm were widespread across western Tasmania

North-east Tasmania also saw some moderate to heavy daily falls during the week, including the highest daily total: 47.6 mm in the 24 hours to 9 am on the 24th at Mount Victoria (Una Plain)

Much of Victoria away from the north-west and central Gippsland; south-eastern New South Wales inland of the ranges; south-east South Australia and parts of the exposed peninsulas; northern and central Tasmania; and far south-west Western Australia received 10 to 50 mm of rain for the week

High pressure dominated over the mainland, keeping most of the continent dry although onshore flow brought weekly totals of 25 to 50 mm around Innisfail on Queensland’s northern tropical coast but generally less than 15 mm elsewhere.
