DURING the week ending 27 November, widespread showers and thunderstorms impacted much of northern and eastern Australia as a series of surface troughs and upper low pressure systems combined with hot, humid and unstable air.

Isolated thunderstorms impacted Queensland, New South Wales and parts of South Australia and the Northern Territory, this was also associated with heavy rainfall and flash flooding in some areas.

Later in the week, a low pressure system brought showers and isolated thunderstorms to South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

Weekly rainfall totals greater than 15 mm were recorded across much of eastern and northern Australia.

Weekly rainfall totals between 50 to 100 mm were recorded across northern areas of the Northern Territory, an area extending from northern New South Wales into southern Queensland, central and northern parts of Queensland, an area of south-eastern South Australia and adjacent parts of western Victoria.

Weekly rainfall totals greater than 100 mm were recorded in isolated pockets of southern and central Queensland and north of the Northern Territory.

The highest weekly rainfall total was 178.4 mm at Clermont Airport, Queensland, and the highest daily rainfall total was 141.8 mm at Georgetown Airport, Queensland, in the 24 hours to 9am on 23 November.
