EX-TROPICAL Cyclone Kirrily brought heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds to New South Wales and eastern Victoria at the beginning of the week.

A surface trough across parts of northern Australia combined with a humid airmass resulted in daily showers and thunderstorms.

Humid easterly airflow brought thunderstorms and rainfall to north-eastern New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland in the second half of the week.

Weekly rainfall totals greater than 50 mm were recorded in northern areas of the Northern Territory, New South Wales, and northern and central Queensland, including some areas that received more than 200 mm for the week.

Weekly rainfall totals greater than 50 mm were also recorded in pockets of north-eastern Victoria and northern Western Australia.

The highest weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) was 336.1 mm at Bing Bong Port, Northern Territory, including the highest daily rainfall total of 224.6 mm in the 24 hours to 9am on 9 February.

The highest weekly total, at a Bureau gauge, was 611.0 mm at Westmoreland Station (Queensland), including the highest daily total of  332.0 mm at in the 24 hours to 9 am 2 February.
