Bureau of Meteorology, 01/02/2023

STORMS brought heavy rainfall to northern tropical areas of Australia over the week while a moisture-laden trough produced significant rainfall over the South West Slopes of New South Wales and adjacent parts of Victoria at the end of the week.

Weekly totals greater than 100 mm were recorded in northern tropical areas of Australia, with totals greater than 200 mm in isolated pockets.

Weekly totals greater than 100 mm were also recorded in the South West Slopes district of New South Wales extending over the Victorian border, exceeding the daily total records for a few sites.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 278.0 mm at Crawford Lookout Alert (Queensland) which also had the highest daily total for the week of 184.0 mm to 9am on the 30th.

Flood warnings generally eased across the country though a Major Flood warning for the Darling River remains.
