Robbins Island, located on the northwestern tip of Tasmania, offers a temperate climate, clean air, and a pristine coastal environment. The Hammond family, who are fourth-generation cattle farmers, have been breeding Wagyu cattle on the island since the early 1990s.
As a senior pasture hand, you will be responsible for independently managing the rotational grazing of all livestock groups on the property, including cow/calf groups and young stock from weaning until they reach feedlot age. Your focus will be on optimising pasture utilisation through rotational grazing and feed budgeting. Key tasks will include shifting cattle every day and monitoring closely for illness, plate metering, monitoring the leaf stage of the grass, and conducting feed budgets to ensure optimal pasture use.
