Our client operates a family-owned mixed livestock business, primarily focusing on sheep, on a farm near the small rural township of Caramut, Victoria. The farm has 9,000 first-cross ewes, consisting of Border Leicester Merino ewes crossed with White Suffolk or Dorset rams and 400 Nudie ewes.
The Senior Farmhand will be required to work independently or as part of a team, overseeing all day-to-day activities related to sheep farming. Responsibilities include stock handling in yards and paddocks with working dogs, operating machinery such as excavators and tractors for sowing, hay and silage production, feeding, fencing, and general farm maintenance. Weekend work may be required, and a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role in sheep production is necessary.
