AN Australian processing industry contingent will travel to Denmark in March to take part in global processing systems provider, Marel’s annual technology showcase event.

The company’s popular Meat ShowHow 2018 gathering in Copenhagen will showcase a range of primary, secondary and further processing technologies offering advances in efficiency, yield, automation, food safety and traceability, and product innovation.

A wide range of Marel’s industry-leading equipment will be on display, including new machines, software, standalone units and complete integrated processing lines. The Meat ShowHow is all about getting to experience the equipment and the meat processing technologies in a hands-on environment.

Marel is a leading global provider of advanced processing systems and services to the meat protein industries. The company has a number of large installations in Australia including red meat processing plants, and more projects in the pipeline as processors strive to lift efficiency and productivity.

Displays this year in the company’s 900sq m demonstration hall will include the StreamLine deboning and trimming system – an efficient, flexible and scalable system which helps to ensure optimum utilisation of raw material in the boning room. It enables close monitoring and control of critical key performance indicators in real time, such as yield, throughput and cutting performance. Data collected using Marel’s Innova Food Processing Software is automatically registered and monitored for the entire line as well as for individual operators.

Other technologies on display this year will cover trim handling systems, grinding and mixing, fat content analysis, bone detection, portion control, marination, traceability, packing, intra logistics, labelling, checking of final packs and software.

Guest speakers will cover a range of topics including Big Data in the meat industry, global meat outlook 2018 and beyond, and meat grading programs. Marel has a number of processing facilities in Europe that will open their doors for reference visits during the showcase event. The event is also a great opportunity to meet and talk with fellow professionals from the global red meat industry.
