Week to go for MLA voting deadline

Beef Central, 09/11/2011

Meat & Livestock Australia members now have less than a week left to meet the Longreach Annual General Meeting proxy voting deadline.

Members who are not attending in person are being encouraged to return their proxy forms by 2pm (Queensland time) on Tuesday November 15.

For members who want to cast their vote in person, the AGM will be held in Longreach on Thursday November 17.

MLA said all members should have received their AGM packs in the mail, including the notice of meeting and proxy forms.

The proxy forms indicate the resolutions to be voted on at the AGM and the member voting entitlement. MLA members who did not return their levies notice are automatically entitled to one vote at the AGM, a statement said.

Members are being asked to vote on several resolutions:

  • The election of three first-time nominees as directors of MLA: strategy and corporate governance specialist Michele Allan; Queensland beef producer Geoff Maynard; and NSW sheepmeat producer Rodney Watt.
  • The election of member representatives to the Selection Committee: Ian McCamley from Queensland (cattle producers); Warren Barnett from NSW (lotfeeders); Ben Hooper from Tasmania (sheepmeat producers).
  • A special resolution put forward by a group of members calling for MLA to be wound up before December 2012

This year, for the first time, the proxy form may be completed online at www.computershare. com.au/mlavoting, alternatively it may be faxed to 1800 022 040.

For replacement proxy forms members can email membership@mla.com.au or call 1800 675 717.
