SKILLS and experience in marketing, finance and adoption are being sought in a call for three new directors to be installed at this year’s Meat & Livestock Australia annual general meeting in November.
Directors are nominated through the selection committee and approved by members at MLA AGMs for a three-year term, with retiring directors able to nominate for re-election. Currently there are nine board-members, including the managing director elect, Michael Crowley.
Boardmembers whose three-year terms expire this year include chairman Alan Beckett (not standing for re-election), Professor Manny Noakes and Jacqueline Wilson-Smith. The latter two have not yet indicated whether they will stand for another term.
The MLA board provides guidance and oversight of the management and performance of MLA in delivering its strategy.
The board operates under corporate governance and risk management frameworks to ensure producer levies, government matching dollars and partner funds are invested effectively to ensure the continuing prosperity of the Australian red meat and livestock industry.
Alongside a broad understanding and genuine interest in the Australian red meat industry, candidates with experience and extensive commercial skills in the following areas are encouraged to apply:
- Finance, audit and risk experience in agricultural industries
- Product promotion, strategic marketing and market development experience
- Early adoption experience and/or commercial delivery in the red meat sector
MLA encourages all suitably qualified candidates to apply, a statement said.
