SOUTH Australian beef and lamb processor Thomas Foods International is providing beef and lamb as a nutritionally-dense, iron-rich source of protein for the Aussie Swim team in the lead-up to the 2024 Olympics starting later this month in Paris.
The family-owned TFI red meat processing business based at Murray Bridge will donate South Australian lamb and beef to support the nutritional needs of the 75-strong national team for the five weeks in the lead-up to the games.
All the meat supplied will be prepared by Adelaide chef, Chris Jarmer, who will look after the dietary needs of all the participating athletes and staff. It is expected that more than 100kg of world-class red meat will be supplied before the games get underway on 26 July.
Mr Jarmer said the current menu for the athletes includes slow-roasted porterhouse steak, American-style grill, and his signature Thai black pepper beef dish.
“The support given to our athletes is a reminder of how much our industry contributes to our country,” he said.
“Not only do red meat processors play an essential role to package and produce high-quality beef and lamb for us to enjoy, the industry also supports tens-of-thousands of people in jobs around the country.”
Thomas Foods International managing director Darren Thomas said his company was proud to be providing the best-quality Australian meat to these exceptional Australian athletes.
“We have well-established distribution networks across Europe and we’re currently working through the exact details and requirements to ensure Chris has what he needs, while the team is in camp,” Mr Thomas said.
Fifteen members of the Aussie swim team claimed World Championship gold medals in 2023, and many feel this is the best-ever Aussie swim team to represent their country overseas.
Darren/Tony great initiative and would love to get involved in any way. Please reach out to me and let me know how I can help.
