Qld police investigating suspicious dozer fire in FNQ

Beef Central, 29/11/2017

The Queensland Police service has confirmed this afternoon that detectives from its Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) are investigating the arson of a Caterpillar Dozer on a cattle station south west of Mount Garnet.

Senior Constable Jane Moran said the yellow Caterpillar Dozer was located on a cattle property on Gunnawarra Road, Mount Garnet with extensive fire damage to the machine.

She said detectives are interested in speaking with anyone who may have been travelling along Gunnawarra Road, Mount Garnet between Saturday, November 25 and Monday, November 27 who may have seen a vehicle on that road or observed people on or near that road.

Officers are also interested if any witnesses have dash cam footage operating whilst they were travelling along or in the vicinity of Gunnawarra Road between those dates.

Yesterday AgForce released a statement expressing concern about reports of arson on a property the Wilderness Society had alleged was under investigation for illegal tree clearing. The rural lobby group yesterday called on the Federal and State Government to act quickly to clarify the situation.

Queensland Police detectives say they would like to speak with anyone who has information relating to this matter and can be contacted by calling Police link on 131444 or Crimestoppers on 1800333000. Quote reference number QP1702087378.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.

You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.
