An international expert overseeing initiatives around the world to enhance understanding of cattle’s role in ecosystems and food systems is among several speakers who will address cattle producers at Cattle Connect near Tamworth on November 21, the inaugural conference and producer day of Cattle Australia (CA).

Dr Vaughn Holder is the Global Beef Research Director at Alltech, and will speak on the topic ‘From Science to Story’.

He will be joined in a discussion panel by Meat & Livestock Australia Managing Director, Mick Crowley, and agribusiness and natural capital expert Dr Bill Hurditch.

Cattle Connect will also feature the first Australian screening of the groundbreaking documentary, World Without Cows.

“Every cattle producer in Australia has felt the pain of poor policies based on ideology rather than science, and as an industry, we have to keep on the front foot in articulating our credentials and the research underpinning our roles as food producers and environmental custodians for our communities,” CA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Chris Parker, said.

CA is the grass-fed beef industry’s peak body responsible for driving policy, and guiding research, development, and adoption (RD&A) and marketing investment for the sector.

The event, to be held at Bective Station in Tamworth, New South Wales, on 21 November, has been designed by CA to foster knowledge sharing and encourage debate on the big issues facing the industry, as well as celebrate its successes.

Also headlining the program is Meat & Livestock Australia General Manager – International Markets, Andrew Cox, who will present the global market outlook and the latest initiatives to tell the story of Australian beef.

Mr Cox manages a team of 50 staff across 17 locations throughout Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the United States, and is responsible for the offshore promotion of Australian beef, lamb and goat meat, as well as customer relations/business development and activities to improve market access.

Cattle Connect 2024 will culminate with the CA Annual General Meeting, followed by a fun and tasty sundowner with MLA chef Sam Burke’s ‘Rare, Medium, Live!’.
