New website helps Aussies help farmers

Aussie Helpers has launched a new fundraising campaign targeted at helping in-need farmers.

The Buy a Bale Campaign will help struggling farmers by asking Australians to buy the essentials our farmers need. Feed for their stock, diesel to cover the enormous freight costs, donations for family essentials, or just volunteering to help.

During the past 11 years, Aussie Helpers has raised hundreds of thousands to help struggling farmers.

Today though the need is critical as much of North West Queensland suffers under a massive combination of no export of their cattle, drought, no wet season and bush fires which burnt all feed.

According to Brian Egan, head of Aussie Helpers “Many of these farmers won’t just fail financially, but may become victims of depression through no fault of their own making.”

“We’ve come across so many farmers who are just too afraid to admit they need help. Just today we’ve been told of a couple who can’t pay their family food bill, have no feed for their stock and cannot see any hope of better days ahead. Mental health issues aren’t just for metropolitan areas of Australia” Brian said

“We’re asking Australians to help in ways which are direct and will have immediate effect. What remaining stock these farmers have need to be fed and we need to get it to them. We used to be able to rely on donations but everyone’s hurting so we need to buy and it and give it away. We need help with diesel and trucks to get it from farmer to farmer and we need money to help get groceries to these families so they can eat. The situation is dire for many people on the land however we know we can help a great deal of farming families if we can just mobilise enough support through the Buy a Bale campaign”.

The campaign idea arose from a phone call I received from the team at The Give Back Campaign who said there must be something that could be done to help drought affected farming families. That was just two weeks ago and here we are today receiving donations already.
