Queensland Police are attending the scene of a fatal helicopter crash near Cloncurry.

Around 7.15am, police say they were called to a property on Sedan Dip Road 20km north of Cloncurry where a helicopter being used to muster cattle appeared to have struck power lines and crashed into a paddock.

The helicopter had caught fire on impact and the male pilot and sole occupant, reported to be 40 years old, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said the fire has since been extinguished.

The Forensic Crash Unit is at the scene and is conducting investigations in coordination with other agencies, the police statement said.
