Looking for a graduate program placement in 2026? Here’s where to start

EACH year, a large and growing list of Australian agribusiness companies offer graduate placements for university leavers to give promising young starters a taste of working life in the ag sector and related fields.

Typically these placements are 12 months in tenure, and involve working across different parts of the business during the year.

Pastoral companies, financial institutions, lotfeeding businesses, meat processors, stock and station agencies, corporate-scale farming companies and supply chain managers all offer annual grad program placements like this each year.

However, feedback received from a successful placement inductee currently working for AA Co suggested it had been hard to track down a comprehensive list of the potential graduate program offerings across the industry.

Isobel Thomson, former AAMIG Business Graduate, and Clare McNeven, WQLX Manager.

It got us thinking: Shouldn’t there be a central gathering-point for graduate program offers, with some basic details and contact points?

Beef Central, Sheep Central and Grain Central have decided to compile such a list, and publish it later this month or early July for the benefit of graduates. It appears most industry graduate programs have application deadlines during August, for placements starting the following January.

Based on what we receive from stakeholders, we will circle back with a summary of upcoming graduate program opportunities across the beef, sheep and grains industries for next year.
