It now appears that the live export debacle is not about to go away. The general public are being targeted with pictures of events taking place within some slaughter houses and it is not a pretty sight. Abattoirs are not attractive environments for any general showing and, understandably, have always been basically kept from the public view. Animal activists will show anything at all to advance their cause, including some footage that takes place as normal procedure.
I’m beginning to think that maybe it’s time a You-tube video showing actual practice from slaughter to the chiller at an Australian abattoir be placed on the internet for viewing by the general public. Anyone who watches will then be able to make up their own mind as to what actually happens and what is animal cruelty. My bet is that such a showing would have no effect on the consumers desire for eating beef whatsoever.
