DIVERSIFIED agribusiness Ruralco has appointed former JBS senior livestock manager Duane Woodham as its new northern region divisional manager for rural agency operations.

Mr Woodham, who was northern region livestock manager for JBS for the past four years, and who served earlier as a senior cattle buyer, left the company abruptly in August.

In his new agency role, he will be taking on Dick Cameron’s former role and responsibilities, as Mr Cameron transitions into a part-time consultancy role within Ruralco.

Mr Woodham is a respected livestock professional with 27 years’ experience in the livestock agency and processor cattle buying industry. He led JBS’s team of livestock managers and buyers and was responsible for overall purchasing for some of the largest abattoirs and feedlots in Australia.

“I am excited to be joining Ruralco during a time of significant opportunity for Northern Australia, and look forward to working with Ruralco’s diverse business network of experienced agents and customers to continue to drive growth across the region,” he said in a Ruralco statement issued this morning.

“Ruralco’s business model is unique within the industry, and provides a lot of challenges and possibilities which I am looking forward to embracing,” he said.

JBS is yet to announce a replacement as its northern region livestock manager.
