Campaign helps parents to turn leftovers into lunch

Beef Central 15/02/2012

Educating parents on ways to turn leftovers into lunch is a central theme of a domestic market promotional campaign launched by Meat and Livestock Australia in January.

The back-to-school themed nutritional campaign focuses on giving busy parents ideas on how to fill  children’s lunchboxes with meals that were nutritious, tasty and easy to make.

The campaign shows parents how to turn their beef or lamb dinner into a healthy lunch the next day, and highlights the nutritional benefits of red meat.

“Foods such as red meat, wholegrain foods, vegetables, fruit and dairy provide key nutrients such as protein, iron, zinc, calcium, omega-3 and B vitamins,” MLA said.

During the campaign, MLA ran television commercials and red meat cooking segments on Channel Nine breakfast television.

More than 680,000 recipe booklets on turning dinners into lunches were also included into magazines such as The Australian Women’s Weekly, Woman’s Day and Take 5.
