Beef 2021 Preview

Beef 2021 commercial cattle entries closing soon

Beef Central, 08/03/2021

Nominations for the Nutrien Livestock Commercial Cattle Competition being held as part of Beef Australia 2021 in Rockhampton in May close next Friday 19 March.

The commercial cattle competition is a permanent fixture on the Beef Australia calendar and presents producers with a unique  opportunity to benchmark their stock against national standards, to gather feedback from experienced judges and identify areas where they can continue to improve to ensure our industry remains productive and profitable.

The competition kicks off at the CQLX Gracemere yards with judging at 9am Sunday 2 May, followed by the Young Commercial Judges competition from 1pm on Monday 3 May. Champions are announced from 8am followed by the ‘Sale of Champions’ and feature sale from 8.30am.

Beef Australia commercial cattle committee chair Mark Howard and his committee are extremely pleased with the number of nominations, particularly with the challenges so many producers have been presented over recent seasons.

Placegetters will be announced at the commercial cattle awards dinner at 6.30pm in the ‘Long Paddock’ at the Rockhampton Showgrounds on Monday evening. Tickets are $160 per person and include a plated two course dinner plus beverage package.

A host of ribbons and prizemoney is up for grabs with the Grand Champion Pen awarded a trophy, ribbon and $1500 cash. The most successful exhibitor and most successful feedlot will each receive trophies, ribbons and $1000 cash.

A description of classes including grainfed and grassfed are available in the schedule. Last entries before 19 March. Click here to access entry and competition details.
