Augathella grazier facing stock theft charges

A grazier from Augathella in Queensland’s Central West is facing multiple charges following an investigation by detectives from the Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad.

SARCIS investigators executed two search warrants on remote properties in the Charleville and Augathella areas last Friday, February 24.

Detective Sergeant Warren Baker said searches were conducted as part of a closure of an investigation surrounding the theft of cattle in the Charleville area.

He said a 43-year-old Augathella man has been issued a Notice to Appear before the Charleville Magistrates Court on March 14.

The Augathella grazier, who has not been named, will face two charges of stock stealing, one charge of attempted fraud, three Weapons Act offences, one Explosives Act offence, and one offence under the Biosecurity Act relating to false information on a movement record.

Detectives from the Charleville Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad are seeking any information from the public in relation to theft of livestock in the Charleville area. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers, or the Charleville SARCIS on 074650 5521.
