AACo CEO David Harris to address 2024 Rural Press Club Ekka breakfast

Beef Central 30/07/2024

Having operated continuously for 200 years, AACo is the oldest company in Australia still conducting business under its original name.

Formed by Royal Decree in 1824, AACo started out with 720 French and Anglo merino sheep producing wool for export back to the United Kingdom.

In two centuries of operations it has also been a miner and has grown today into Australia’s largest cattle company running a herd of 450,000 beef cattle, exporting premium branded beef to markets all over the world – including back to the UK.

AACo’s presence is so entwined with the history of Australian agriculture it would be almost impossible to count the number of people today who are connected with the company in some way, as former AACo director David Crombie observed to a gathering at Beef 2024 in Rockhampton earlier this year.

To mark the unique milestone of AACo’s 200th anniversary, CEO David Harris will deliver the 2024 Malcolm McCosker Memorial Address at the 2024 Rural Press Club of Queensland breakfast at the Royal Queensland Show on Friday, August 9 at the Brisbane Showgrounds.

Mr Harris will highlight key moments in AACo’s history, and particularly its association with Queensland, while also looking forward to the next 200 years, not only for AACo itself but challenges and opportunities for Australia’s entire agricultural sector.
