Yarding 4600 Change +200
The Wagga sale soared to new heights, driven by the robust bidding of feedlot and export buyers. This stronger competition across various categories of cattle, sidelined local processors who struggled to match the higher prices offered by lot feeder buyers. A bigger group of feedlot and export buyers were at the sale, all operating with keen interest to secure quality livestock. However, restocking activity remained subdued due to limited numbers of lighter weight steers and heifers.
In a slightly larger cattle yarding, prices for feeder heifers and steers experienced a surge of 15c to 25c/kg. The 330 to 400kg feed heifers commanded prices ranging from 305c to 339c/kg, while medium-weight feed steers secured prices between 310c and 367c/kg. Additionally, a few trade cattle found buyers at prices ranging from 291c to 344c/kg.
A standout feature of the auction was the robust activity in the heavy export market, with processors driving prices 20 to 30c higher. The demand from Queensland for top-quality bullocks demonstrated significant strength, resulting in heavy bullocks being traded within the range of 295c to 346c/kg. Concurrently, heavy heifers claimed attention with an impressive top price of 334c/kg.
In the cow sale, a noticeable uptick in prices unfolded, witnessing an increase of 6 to 10c/kg. Heavy cows were particularly sought after, commanding prices ranging from 270c to 291c/kg, highlighting the current dynamics at play within the cattle markets. Leaner types were few making from 240c to 278c/kg
