Yarding 5801 Change 2112
Cattle were drawn from a wide supply area including large numbers from North and Western Queensland.
The overall quality of the yarding was mixed with an increase in content from the previous week. Steers accounted for over half of the yarding.
A larger buying panel including all regular processors, along with increased local and interstate restockers was present and operating.
Demand remained firm with prices driven by quality, resulting improvements in several categories.
Light weight yearling steers under 200kg improved by 78c, while medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers improved by 27c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed remained unchanged from the previous week.
Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg also improved by 78c, while light weight yearling heifers under 280kg improved by 14c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed rose by 39c/kg.
Cows improved from last week with medium weight cows up by 1c to 23c, and heavy weight cows up by 5c to 11c/kg. Light weight yearling steers under 200kg sold to atop of 676.2c, to average 630c/kg.
A good sample of light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 624.2c to average 541c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 548.2c to average 500c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to restockers made to 472.2c to average 453c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed reached a top of 432.2c to average 414c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers reached a top of 604.2c to average 548c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 542.2c to average 488c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 500.2c to average 465c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers made to a top of 430.2c to average 427c/kg. The best of the heavy weight grown steers sold to 376.2c to average 376c/kg.
The best of the grown heifers reached a top of 350.2c to average 330c, while PTIC grown heifers made to a top of 378.2c to average 362c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows sold to a top of 295.2c to average 291c/kg. Medium weight 4 score cows reached a top of 308.2c to average 304c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 300.2c to average 293c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows sold to 310.2c to average 305c/kg. Heavy weight PTIC cows made to a top of 314.2c to average 313c/kg.
The best of the heavy weight bulls made to 322.2c to average 321c/kg.
Cows and calves reached a top of $2,225/unit.
