Elders agent Keith Crouch with the Flag Springs, Auburn Santa cross steers. The steers sold to 290c/kg, reaching a top of $765 to average $633.

Cattle were drawn from a wide supply area. A good panel of buyers was present, but operating selectively. Steers and heifers were present in numbers and the overall quality of the cattle was good.

Prices were firm for quality cattle, but secondary lines saw significant decreases from the previous week, especially across the lighter weight categories.

The largest sample of light weight yearling steers under 280kg decreased by 15c to 18c/kg. The majority of medium weight yearling steers under 330kg eased by 22c to 24/kg. The largest sample of medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed eased by 2c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 280kg, decreased by 18c to 43c/kg. A good number of medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg increased by 2c to 5c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows eased by 1c, while the medium weight 3 score cows increased by 2c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows sold 3c/kg dearer.

Calves sold to 282.2c to average 226c/kg.

The largest sample of light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers sold to 314.2c to average 290c/kg. A small number of quality medium weight yearling steers under 330kg made to 310.2c to average 298c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 296.2c to average 289c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers sold to 250.2c to average 229c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to feed made to 270.2c to average 239c/kg, while medium weight heifers under 400kg to feed sold to 258.2c to average 247c/kg. The best of the limited numbers of grown heifers sold to 240c to average 218c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 198.2c to average 169c, while medium weight 3 score cows sold to 221.2c to average 208c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 227.2c to average 212c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows sold to 229.2c to average 227c/kg.

The best of the small number of cows and calves sold to $620/unit.

Steers in the 280- 350kg range reached 310c/kg and averaged 263c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 296c/kg and averaged 282c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 294c/kg and averaging 268c/kg. Cows and calves hit $560/unit.

Malcolm Burey, Back Creek, Amby sold Charbray cross steers to 305c/kg, reaching a top of $834 to average $692.

Echo Hills Cattle Partnership, Echo Hills, Wallumbilla sold Santa cross steers to 296c/kg, reaching a top of $1,107 to average $1,038.
