Roma store sale 7 May 2024: Market stronger for restockers

Roma Agents yarded 4,059 head 1,584 less than the previous sale. All the regular processors were present with one extra exporter also feedlotters and backgrounders.

There were quality lines of steers and heifers penned with the market stronger for restockers and backgrounders and softer for heavier feeders.

Cows and bulls showed improvement across most classes. Yearling steers under 200kg topped 386/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg averaged 390c made to 448c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg sold from 310c to 406c to average 370c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg made to 420c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg sold from 308c to 342c/kg. Yearling steers over 480kg sold from 260c to 296c/kg. Light weight heifers under 200kg made to 298c/kg. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg topped 308c to average 281c/kg.

Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg also sold to 308c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg made from 232c to 304c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg made from 232c to 304c/kg. Yearling heifers over 480kg sold 298c with most selling from 256c to 278c/kg. Grown steers 400 to 500kg topped 250c/kg. Grown steers 500 to 600kg made to 310c/kg. Grown steers over 600kg topped 291c to average 280c/kg. Grown heifers over 540kg topped 304c/kg. Another yarding of well finished cows on offer as well as store cows which were well sought after. The score 1 cows to restockers sold from 100c to 150c/kg. The 2 score cows to processors made to 224c with the 3 score cows selling to 245c/kg.

The best of the heavy weight bulls 266c/kg.

The bulls under 450kg topped 356c/kg.

A total of 4,059 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 448c/kg and averaged 392c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 424c/kg and averaged 378c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 420c/kg and averaged 366c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 378c/kg and averaged 328c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 342c/kg and averaged 293c/kg.

MJ & CJ McQueen, Weston, Winton, sold Simmental cross steers to 448c/kg, reaching a top of $1,970 to average $998.  The Simmental cross heifers sold to 308c/kg, reaching a top of $1,523 to average $913.

FG & R Dunn, Megine, Roma sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 420c/kg, reaching a top of $1,335 to average $1,273.

Raceview Pastoral Co, Raceview, Charleville sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 424c/kg, reaching a top of $1,492 to average $1,207.  The Santa Gertrudis heifers sold to 308c/kg, reaching a top of $1,061 to average $857.

Bernie & Cindy Bruce, Wilga Park, Taroom sold Charolais cross steers to 402c/kg, reaching a top of $1,251 to average $1,147.

Justin Humphreys, Colroy, Injune, sold Black Simmental steers to 400c/kg, reaching a top of $1,233 to average $1,131.  The Black Simmental heifers to 314c/kg, reaching a top of $930 to average $854.

BJ & WR Taylor, Marjundale, Injune sold Charolais cross steers to 393c/kg, reaching a top of $1,233 to average $1,233.

AW & GWW Littleton, Gabel Park, Jackson sold Angus cross steers to 384c/kg, reaching a top of $900 to average $888.  The Angus cross heifers sold to 294c/kg, reaching a top of $772 to average $693.

WD & JE Purcell, Bridgeman Downs, Roma sold Angus steers to 368c/kg, reaching a top of $1,096 to average $1,096.  The Angus heifers sold to 304c/kg, reaching a top of $1,135 to average $1,021.

BR & KM Seawright, Janlee, Yuleba, sold Santa Gertrudis steers cross to 350c/kg, reaching a top of $1,236 to average $1,102.

AJ & CJ Adams, Allo-Omber, Barcaldine sold Murray Grey cross steers to 350c/kg, reaching a top of $1,129 to average $1,013.  The Brahman cross heifers sold to 260c/kg, reaching a top of $1,131 to average $766.  The Brahman cows sold to 239c/kg, reaching a top of $1,363 to average $1,363.

NLM Pastoral, Tingun, sold Shorthorn cross steers to 350c/kg, reaching a top of $1,509 to average $1,087.

Leanne Lawson, Biloela sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 344c/kg, reaching a top of $1,345 to average $1,234.  The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers sold to 294c/kg, reaching a top of $994, to average $962.

BJ & KM Perkins, Kaywarra, Eumamurrin sold Hereford cross steers to 344c/kg, reaching a top of $1,146 to average $1,146.

Yorkaringa Farming Trust, Yorkaringa, Wallumbilla, sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 336c/kg, reaching a top of $1,613 to average $1,601.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 298c/kg and averaged 271c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 314c/kg and averaged 263c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 302c/kg, averaging 249c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 304c/kg, averaging 258c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 304c/kg, averaging 262c/kg.

U5J Pty Ltd, Kevington, Injune sold Santa Gertrudis cross heifers to 304c/kg, reaching a top of $1,875 to average $1,575.  The Santa Gertrudis cross cows sold to 227c/kg, reaching a top of $1,685 to average $1,422.

Andrew & Samantha Burey, Burradoo, Roma, sold Angus cross heifers to 298c/kg, reaching a top of $538 to average $538.

Doce Pastoral, Pleasant Hills, Roma sold Droughtmaster heifers to 292c/kg, reaching a top of $1,572 to average $1,278.

Picking Pastoral Co, Yallamurra Station, Quilpie, sold Angus cross heifers to 288c/kg, reaching a top of $706 to average $594.

BR Sinnamon, Tin Hut, Jackson, sold Brangus heifers sold to 284c/kg, reaching a top of $1,485 to average $1,021.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 190c/kg and averaged 176c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 230c/kg, averaging 193c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 245c/kg, averaging 218c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 244c/kg, averaging 227c/kg.

MJ Munday, Roma sold Brahman cross cows to 245c/kg, reaching a top of $1,431 to average $1,336.

TW & AJ Bowen, Lolworth, Morven, sold Santa Gertrudis cross cows to 243c/kg, reaching a top of $1,490 to average $1,390.

W & K Brown Trust, Booralie, Roma, sold Angus cows to 238c/kg, reaching a top of $1,696 to average $1,493.
