Yarding 3391 Change – prior sale cancelled
Cattle numbers fell to 3,403, down from the previous fortnight’s yarding of 4,509 head at the Roma Store Sale after the cancellation of last weeks sale due to widespread rain and road closures throughout the supply area.
Cattle were mostly drawn from the local supply area with some lines from western Queensland also yarded. A larger panel of buyers including restockers was present and operating to strong demand.
Steers and heifers yarded in similar numbers and the quality of the yarding was good.
Prices continued to improve from the last Roma sale with lightweight yearling steers reaching historic highs for the Roma Saleyards.
The best of the lightweight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers sold to a top of 482.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 425.2c/kg. Quality medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to feed made to 404.2c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows sold to a top of 312.2 c/kg. Cow and calf units reached a top of $1850/unit.
