Roma store sale 4 June 2024: Heavy feeders firm to 20c dearer

Yarding: 4725 Change: -3128

With scattered showers in the supply district Roma Agents yarded 4,725 head 3,128 less than the previous sale.

All the regular processors feedlotters and backgrounders present.

A quality yarding of weaners penned but could not sustain the market of last sale however heavy feeders firm to 20c/kg dearer.

Yearling steers 200 to 280kg sold from 198c to 404c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg with the majority selling from 276c to 376c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg sold to 370c to average 348c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg sold well to 365c/kg.

Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg sold from 140c with the majority selling from 212c to 304c/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg topped 310c to average 250c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg made to 308c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg lost ground selling to 302c/kg. Grown steers 400 to 500kg selling to 286c/kg to feed.

Grown steers 500 to 600kg made to 276c/kg to processors and over 600kg also to processors topped 250c and 285c/kg to feed. Grown heifers over 540kg sold from 175c to 255c/kg. The heavy weight cows averaged 240c and made to 250c/kg. The 2 score cows made to 230c and averaged 205c/kg. The best of the heavy weight bulls over 600kg made to 258c and the bulls under 450kg sold to 292c/kg. Market Reporter David Friend

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 380c/kg and averaged 316c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 404c/kg and averaged 334c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 376c/kg and averaged 355c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 372c/kg and averaged 342c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 334c/kg and averaged 304c/kg.

Full Dielsel Pty Ltd, Allambie, Bourke sold Angus cross steers to 404c/kg, reaching a top of $1,018 to average $954.  The Angus cross heifers sold to 304c/kg, reaching a top of $1,130 to average $735.

JD & LE Russell, Quandong, Dirranbandi sold Angus cross steers to 376c/kg, reaching a top of $1,197 to average $1,145.

WJ & EC Groat Family Trust, Lorraine, Orallo sold South Devon cross steers to 368c/kg, reaching a top of $1,124 to average $988.

Whitton Cattle Co, Myrtleville, Injune sold Charolais cross steers to 366c/kg, reaching a top of $1,259 to average $1,202.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 308c/kg, reaching a top of $997 to average $970.

NR Harland & Glen Humphreys, Gladys Downs, Injune sold Charolais cross steers to 366c/kg, reaching a top of $1,366 to average $1,147.

DA & KL York, Bainbilla, Surat sold Limousin cross steers to 362c/kg, reaching a top of $1,312 to average $1,162.  The Limousin cross heifers sold to 310c/kg, reaching a top of $986 to average $907.

Dart Pastoral Co, Keen Gea Station, Torrens Creek sold Charolais cross steers to 358c/kg, reaching a top of $1,347 to average $1,233.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 282c/kg, reaching a top of $985 to average $897.

Maunder Pastoral Co, Cambow, Amby sold Charolais cross steers to 352c/kg, reaching a top of $1,281 to average $1,275.

GT & GAY E Burey, Springhill, Amby sold Hereford cross steers to 348c/kg, reaching a top of $1,647 to average $1,022.

WD & JE Purcell, Bridgeman Downs, Roma sold Angus steers to 342c/kg, reaching a top of $1,149 to average $1,149.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 250c/kg and averaged 214c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 310c/kg and averaged 231c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 308c/kg, averaging 252c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 290c/kg, averaging 244c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 302c/kg, averaging 246c/kg.

MB & CM Coomber, Hillcrest, Roma sold Angus heifers to 302c/kg, reaching a top of $1,385 to average $1,257.

RD Pastoral, Richmond Downs, Roma sold Santa Gertrudis cross heifers to 258c/kg, reaching a top of $1,068 to average $1,068.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 170c/kg and averaged 139c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 235c/kg, averaging 202c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 240c/kg, averaging 215c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 250c/kg, averaging 223c/kg.

RJ & CL Anscombe, The Range, Roma sold Droughtmaster cross cows to 244c/kg, reaching a top of $1,465 to average $1,268.
