WITH the very welcome rain in the supply area Roma Agents yarded reduced numbers to 1,680 head.

Cattle were drawn from NSW far Western Qld and the local district.

All processors in attendance and operating also feedlotters and backgrounders active.

The steer and heifer market firm to stronger for most description with cows 10c to 15c/kg dearer.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg sold from 210c to 244c to average 230c/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg returning to the paddock made to 282c to average 261c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg to feed averaged 267c topping at 280c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg to feed made to 270c with restockers paying 280c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg averaged 255c topping at 262c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg topped at 226c to average 203c/kg. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg to feed made to 250c/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg returning to the paddock topped at 254c with the 330 to 400kg making to 212c/kg. Manufacturing steers to 158c/kg. Grown steers 500 to 600kg topped at 230c/kg with the over 600kg bullocks to 220c/kg. Grown heifers over 540kg made to 194c/kg. The 2 score cows averaged 247c and the 3 scores averaged 182c and some young cows sold to 200c/kg. Best of the heavy weight bulls to 214c/kg.

WEANER steers under 200kg topped at 250c/kg and averaged 240c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 282c/kg and averaged 253c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 280c/kg and averaged 251c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 270c/kg and averaged 243c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 248c/kg and averaged 234c/kg.

WJ & CM Whatmore, Boatman, Morven sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 282c/kg, reaching a top of $940 to average $647.  The Droughtmaster cross heifers sold to 160c/kg reaching a top of $637 to average $375.

Mayne Pastoral, Coolamon, Dulacca sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 280c/kg, reaching a top of $809 to average $809.  The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers sold to 222c/kg, reaching a top of $535 to average $525.

EJ & CF Rolfe sold Charolais cross steers to 278c/kg, reaching a top of $788 to average $788.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 226c/kg, reaching a top of $1,134 to average $622.

SD & MJ Russell, Willara, Augathella sold Charolais cross steers to 278c/kg, reaching a top of $860 to average $831.
