There were just over 6800 head of cattle yarded to go under the hammer at this week’s sale at the Roma Saleyards.
The cooler conditions of this week’s sale were a welcomed change to the previous week’s warmer temperatures.
The regular buyers, lotfeeders and backgrounders were in attendance competing for the yarding.
Cattle were drawn from the local Maranoa supply district including Amby, Injune, Mungallala, Roma, Surat and Wallumbilla.
The yarding also hailed from Bollon, Thallon and St George in the south, and from Augathella in the west.
DT & KA York Family Trust of ‘Wattle Park’, Wallumbilla, offloaded a pen of Simbrah cross steers, selling to 474c/kg, for an average weight of 534kg to receive a return of $2,534/hd.
The line was consigned through GDL Roma.
Beitz, KJC & CA sold a pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers out of ‘Westwood’, Mitchell.
The pen of steers fetched for 494c/kg, to weigh 382kg for a return of $1,889/hd.

LL & SD Bode offloaded a large run of steers fetching 506c/kg, weighing in at 259kg to make $1,313/hd.
Operating out of ‘Leinster’, Mungallala, one pen of Angus cross steers made 528c/kg to weigh 284kg and receive a return of $1,502/hd.
A pen of Droughtmaster steers sold for 510c/kg for an average weight of 323kg to make $1,651/hd.
A pen of Brahman cross steers fetched 508c/kg, weighing 286kg and making $1,456/hd.
The line was consigned through Nutrien Ag Solutions Roma with livestock agent Andrew Holt.

L.R.B. Briscoe of Injune sold steers for 456c/kg, for an average weight of 625kg to receive a return of $2,852/hd.
One pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers made 467c/kg to weigh 658kg and make $3,074/hd.
A pen of Angus cross steers fetched 455c/kg weighing 590kg to receive a return of $2,688/hd.

NLRS Commentary:
The number of cattle penned at Roma reduced by 553 head to 6852 and included in the lineup was one consignment of 1000 head light weight yearling steers from one property. The regular buyers were in attendance and operating. Prices across most grades generally stabilised following the reductions experienced the previous week.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 483c to 516c with sales to 550c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 546c to average from 508c to 518c, while those in the same weight range returning to the paddock averaged 501c and made to 532c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to an isolated 520c with a large sample averaging 486c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged from 360c to 384c with sales to 404c/kg. Well bred medium weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to a top of 500c a good sample averaging 488c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 420c and made to 486c and heavy weights averaged 424c and made to 460c/kg.
Heavy grown steers to export processors made to 476c to average 453c and grown heifers made to 444c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 345c and made to 355c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 376c while the best of the cows made to 392c to average 389c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 404c/kg.

A total of 6852 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.
Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 538c/kg and averaged 432c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 550c/kg and averaged 501c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 546c/kg and averaged 494c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 546c/kg and averaged 485c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 496c/kg and averaged 462c/kg.
