Yarding 5400 Change -700

Numbers dipped to 5,400 head at Roma this week. Cattle were mostly drawn from local areas including two feature consignments of medium weight yearling heifers. Overall quality was good and additional buyers from NSW and the Central Highlands helped keep the market strong to slightly dearer for the quality penned.

Light weight restockers steers made to 726.2c to average 703c, medium weight restocker steers sold to 672.2c with most around 611c/kg. Heavy weight feeder steers lifted to 588.2c to average 517c/kg.

The buyers gallery was packed for the annual turnoff of heifers from two local breeders this week. The run of 400 heifers were pre-weighed and sold open auction with the lead pen topping at $3,800/head for 365kg or 1,041c/kg with an average of approximately $3,020/head. Light weight restocker heifers sold to 646.2c to average 540c/kg. Restockers paid up to 672.2c for medium weight heifers. Heavy weight heifers to feed sold to 510.2c/kg.

Heavy grown steers saw a lift in numbers this week with steers over 600kg making to 427.2c to average 418c/kg. Medium weight cows 400 to 520kg sold to 375.2c to average 362c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows over 520kg held firm selling to 399.2c to average 381c/kg. Light weight bulls sold to restockers for 740.2c/kg.

A total of 5,404 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 726c/kg and averaged 654c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 726c/kg and averaged 606c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 672c/kg and averaged 549c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topping at 588c/kg and averaging 500c/kg.

Brekon Pastoral, Tingun sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 724c/kg, reaching a top of $1,910 to average $1,910.

Thompson Business Trust, Miltonise, St George sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 720c/kg, reaching a top of $1,931 to average $1,862.

RS Loughnan, Alicker, Roma sold Angus cross steers to 722c/kg, reaching a top of $2,105 to average $1,905.

RS & Ian Watson, Glenbrook, Charleville sold Brangus cross steers to 714c/kg, reaching a top of $1,836 to average $1,632.

AI & C Chandler Family Trust, Russell Park, Surat sold Charolais cross steers to 700c/kg, reaching a top of $2,232 to average $2,073. The Charolais cross heifers sold to 646c/kg, reaching a top of $1,991 to average $1,734.

SC & TC Bond, Borromoore, Bungil sold Simmental cross steers to 641c/kg, reaching a top of $2,332 to average $2,218.

AW & E Forster, Werna, Winton sold Charolais cross steers to 616c/kg, reaching a top of $2,363 to average $2,085.

EJ & CF Rolfe, Nindinna, Roma sold Charolais cross steers to 610c/kg, reaching a top of $2,139 to average $2,072. The Charolais cross heifers sold to 574c/kg, reaching a top of $1,900 to average $1,876.

M & MT Bright, Karoola Park, Roma sold Angus cross steers to 600c/kg, reaching a top of $2,376 to average $2,265.

Dart Pastoral Company, Bannockburn Station, Torrens Creek sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 568c/kg, reaching a top of $2,004 to average $2,004. The Droughtmaster cross cows sold to 394c/kg, reaching a top of $2,487 to average $1,931.

Gurnett Grazing, Weaner Creek, Charleville sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 548c/kg, reaching a top of $1,982 to average $1,957.

Wellwater Pastoral Co, Wellwater, Tambo sold Angus cross steers to 526c/kg, reaching a top of $2,546 to average $2,405.

Frith Farming Co, Wallumbilla sold Angus cross steers to 516c/kg, reaching a top of $2,418 to average $2,344. The Angus cross heifers sold to 578c/kg, reaching a top of $1,620 to average $1,398.

Tanya Dawes, Barr Park, Roma sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 450c/kg, reaching a top of $2,623 to average $2,579. The Angus cross heifers sold to 428c/kg, reaching a top of $2,304 to average $2,299.

Winnathoola Pastoral Co, Winnathoola, Wallumbilla sold Angus cross steers to 424c/kg, reaching a top of $3,056 to average $3,040.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 600c/kg and averaged 559c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 646c/kg and averaged 535c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 628c/kg, averaging 505c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 590c/kg, averaging 478c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 510c/kg, averaging 454c/kg.

JS Grazing, Double J, Injune sold Angus heifers reaching a top of $3,800 to average $3,112.

Donohoe Cattle Co, Strathmore, Moonie sold Angus heifers to 562c/kg, reaching a top of $3,325 to average $2,966.

Australia Aulong Auniu Wang Operations, Oakpark, Charleville sold Simbrah cross heifers to 560c/kg, reaching a top of $1,682 to average $1,388.

Northbridge Grazing, Sandalwood Downs, St George sold Santa Gertrudis cross heifers to 410c/kg, reaching a top of $2,203 to average $2,203. The Santa Gertrudis cross cows sold to 387c/kg, reaching a top of $2,701 to average $2,485.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 352c/kg and averaged 297c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 387c/kg, averaging 344c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 395c/kg, averaging 370c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 398c/kg, averaging 378c/kg.
