Yarding 7300 Change 1560

CATTLE were mostly drawn from the local supply area but included a fair number from Western and North Western Queensland in a yarding where steers and heifers were present in equal numbers.

The overall quality of the yarding was varied, and prices were reflective of quality variations, however lines of quality local young cattle continued to be well represented.

The buying panel was smaller with less southern restockers present and a regular processer was again not operating.

Restockers were competing with strong demand on medium weight steers and heifers under 330kg, which both saw improvements in price while most other weight brackets eased. Medium weight cows eased in price by 16c to 17c, and heavy weight cows fell by 13c to 14c/kg. Light weight yearling steers under 200kg to restockers made to 464.2c to average 453c/kg.
